SHIFT Abingdon

North Abingdon Children’s Centre are putting on a new session called ‘High 5′.  This session is for families with children with a child with special needs aged between 0 & 19.  The sessions will run from 12.30 – 3.00 on Mondays & Fridays in the school holidays (except bank holidays)

The session is for the whole family with use of the family room, garden & sensory garden.  The sensory room is also available and needs t0 be prebooked by individual families through the children’s centre.

The session if free with £1 per family donation asked for drinks.

We meet on thursday March 31st when we wil be joined by Cheryl Hickson the new sen officer for the Abingdon area

We meet on Friday February 11th when we will be joined from 10am by Mandy Maryan who is the out f school Lison officer at Kingfisher school.  Mandy will talk about her role & out of school care & leisure provision from children with special needs.

The first SHIFT meeting this year is on Friday Januray 14th from 9.00 – 11.00 when there wil be a chance t chat about the highs & lows of the christmas holiday and talk about meetings for this term.

We meet for coffee, chat and mincepies on Thursday December 2nd.  This is our last daytime meetingbefore Christmas although we are going out for a meal at ‘The Fox’ on Boars Hill on December 9th

Kathryn Smith (sen officer) will be joining us at SHIFT on Friday 19th Novemebr at 9.00.  Kathryn wil be talking in general to the group and is also willing answer individual questions.

If you feel like abreak before half term with coffee, cake & chat join us on Friday morning at between 9.00 & 11.00 at Dunmore Primary School.

We have chaned venue and times for SHIFT meetings this term, we will now be meeting at Dunmore Primary School, come to the main recepeption and someone from SHIFT will be there to meet you & take you to the meeting room we are using.

Although it is great that the children are breaking up from school this week & we are no doubt all ready for the break we also know that the summer holidays can seem very long when looking after a child with special needs.

Although we are not having our usual SHIFT meetings in the holidays we have arranged 2 opportunities to get together & chat either over a meal or a drink.

These are on Thursday August 5th at the Dog House, Frilford Heath from 8pm

and

Monday August 23rd August at the Boundary House, Oxford Road, Abiingdon from 8pm
